CX ECP-XL Event Card Printer Overview Standard CR80 cards from an ID card printer are simply too small to carry a photograph, a name, an access tier, branding and a QR code at a size people can read from a distance. Large-scale events, festivals, sporting events, trade shows and conferences can solve this by issuing oversized pre-printed XXL cards that are personalised on the spot. The CX ECP-XL is the Cards-X event card printer built specifically for that workflow. It takes wide pre-printed stock that your supplier or in-house team designs in advance, then prints the variable data (name, photo, barcode, access level) at pace, directly at the accreditation desk. Add the compatible YMCKO or monochrome ribbon separately when ordering. Card formats and the pre-printed workflow The ECP-XL accepts pre-printed XXL cards in two sizes: 88 × 124 mm and 88 × 140 mm. Submit your card design to your event card supplier, who prints the background design, branding, event logo, colour zones and access tiers in advance. You load the blanks into the 100-card input hopper and the printer adds the variable data in a CR80-equivalent print zone of 54 × 86 mm. Three selectable printing positions let you place that zone at the top, centre or bottom of the card, so your pre-printed design determines where the personalisation lands. If you need content on both faces, you can rotate the card by hand and run it through a second time. The accepted thickness range of 0.25 mm to 1.0 mm covers standard PVC event stock and heavier composite cards commonly used for oversized cards to give them more rigidity. If the badge also needs to control access to backstage zones, media areas or VIP spaces, the optional inline contactless encoding module encodes an RFID or UHF chip during the same print pass.
