FARGO DTC4500 Ribbons

FARGO DTC4500 ribbons come in full colour, monochrome and laminate. Every one here is made for the DTC4500 and several are also compatible with the FARGO HDP5000. Which one you need comes down to what you print and how hard the card has to work.

A YMCKO ribbon, part 45200, prints full colour on one side of the card and finishes with a clear overlay. A YMCKOK ribbon, part 45210, adds a black panel so you can print text or a barcode on the reverse. A YMCKK ribbon, part 45215, gives you two black panels without the clear overlay. Half panel YMCKO, part 45214, suits jobs where colour only covers part of the card, such as a photo and a name against a pre-printed background.

Monochrome ribbons handle text, barcodes and single-colour designs at a lower cost per card. They come in black, blue (45203), green (45204) or gold (45207). The black is available as standard (45202), premium (45201) or dye sublimation with its own overlay panel (45213).

Card protection comes from two families of laminate ribbon. Thermal transfer overlaminate is the lower cost option. Part 82615 is the plain version. Part 82618 carries the Orbit design. Polyguard is the thicker patch laminate, at 0.6mil (82600) and 1.0mil (82601). There is a 1.0mil version cut away on the left for smart chip cards and a holographic 1.0mil where security matters.

What the letters mean

• YMCKOK: full colour on the front plus a black panel for text on the back.
• YMCKO: yellow, magenta and cyan for full colour, a black (K) panel for sharp text and barcodes, then a clear overlay (O) that protects the print.
• Half panel: the colour panels cover part of the card, so each roll prints more cards.
• Monochrome: a single colour, ideal for text and barcodes, with many more prints per roll than colour ribbons.
