FARGO C30 / DTC300 Ribbons

The FARGO C30 and DTC300 take the same card printer ribbons: 44201 for black only, 44200 for full colour and 44210 for full colour with printing on the back of the card as well.

Each ribbon carries the ink your printer transfers onto blank cards, so the panels on the roll decide what you can print. The Standard Premium Black Monochrome Ribbon, part 44201, handles single-colour text, barcodes and logos and runs to around 1000 prints. The YMCKO colour ribbon, part 44200, lays down yellow, magenta and cyan for the image, then black for sharp text and a clear overlay for protection, giving roughly 250 prints per roll. The YMCKOK ribbon, part 44210, adds a second black panel for text or a barcode on the reverse. It manages around 200 prints. YMCKO and YMCKOK are simply the panel names printed in sequence, the everyday shorthand for what the printer lays down pass by pass.

Which one you need comes down to what is on the card. Monochrome suits high-volume text-only staff badges where cost per card matters most, while the YMCKO roll fits photo ID, visitor badges and colour-coded access passes. Reach for the YMCKOK ribbon when the reverse of the card needs printing as well as the front, on a machine set up for dual-sided work. Plastic ID holds these part numbers in UK stock. If you are unsure which one matches your machine or your card design, tell us what you are printing and we will confirm the right ribbon before you order.

What the letters mean

• YMCKOK: full colour on the front plus a black panel for text on the back.
• YMCKO: yellow, magenta and cyan for full colour, a black (K) panel for sharp text and barcodes, then a clear overlay (O) that protects the print.
• Monochrome: a single colour, ideal for text and barcodes, with many more prints per roll than colour ribbons.
