Pointman Ribbons

Pointman ribbons are the print consumables that load into your Pointman card printer and put the actual image onto blank ID cards. A black monochrome ribbon handles plain text and barcodes while a full-colour YMCKO ribbon handles photo cards and coloured designs.

The Pointman 66200030-A is the black monochrome ribbon, rated for around 1,000 images at GBP 17.95, which makes it the workhorse for staff numbers, names and simple visitor passes. The Pointman 66200740 is the full-colour YMCKO ribbon, good for roughly 200 images at GBP 32.99. YMCKO refers to the panels it prints with: yellow, magenta and cyan for the full colour, black (the K) for sharp text and barcodes, then a clear overlay (the O) that seals the surface and helps the card stand up to daily handling.

Match the ribbon to your card design first, then to how many cards you print between reorders. The black ribbon works out at roughly 1.8p a card against 16.5p for the colour ribbon, which is why it suits high-volume single-colour printing such as internal ID or basic access cards. The colour ribbon is the one to pick for photo ID, branded passes and anything that needs to look the part on a reception desk.
