What the Smart 21S does

Despite its small and compact appearance, there is more to the Smart 21S than meets the eye. It prints high-quality designs and block colours, with prints similar to its 31 and 51 counterparts. That makes the IDP Smart 21S suitable for a range of businesses needing a simple, quick printer for employee badges, membership cards and ID cards.

The printer weighs only 2.7kg and measures 168 x 259 x 178mm (smaller than a sheet of A4), so it is well suited to busy and compact environments. It can sit in a reception area or on a small desk next to a PC. The hand-fed feature lets you print a single card on the spot, which is ideal for replacement cards.

Print speed and quality

A full-colour card prints edge to edge in around 24 seconds, and a monochrome card in around 6 seconds. The maximum resolution is 1200 dpi, so photos and fine text print sharply. The Smart 21S prints on one side of the card.

Ribbons for the Smart 21S

For full-colour cards use the YMCKO colour ribbon. The YMCFKO UV ribbon adds a UV panel, which prints an image that is invisible in normal light and glows under a UV torch. It is a simple way to tell a genuine card from a forgery. Read more in our guide to ID card security features.
