Less-Plastic-ID – Our step towards sustainable ID Card printing

The world produces 381 million tons in plastic yearly - this is set to double by 2034!

Plastic pollution in the ocean is a big issue. Approximately 8 million pieces of plastic make their way into our oceans, putting endless numbers of sea creatures and wildlife in a dangerous position and creating habitats that are becoming more unsafe for wildlife.

From providing recycling services to finding eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, we are always looking for ways in which we can avoid wasting resources and the usage of single-use plastics as we care about the environment.

Our ‘Less-Plastic-ID’ Project

We’re constantly searching for plastic alternatives and plastic pollution solutions to continue providing services and consumables in a way that is sustainable and prevents harm from being brought onto the environment. Our Less-Plastic-ID project is a solution that enables us to take a step further into the world of sustainability to fulfill our mission of incorporating less use of mainly single-use plastics and finding better alternatives to keep our use of plastics to a minimum.

The concept was initially inspired by Plastic-Free July’s years of success of encouraging others to use less plastic in their daily lives for one month of every summer, hence every July we will promote ourselves under the name of ‘Less-Plastic-ID’ as a way for our consumers to join us on our sustainability journey and in support of the movement.

What We Are Doing Behind The Scenes As a Team...

Ensuring that we incorporate sustainable processes internally and externally is one of our major company values. From making sure our tea bags, coffee grounds, and food waste are composted to making sure electronic invoices are sent to the appropriate recipient to ensure office printing is minimised as much as possible, we are making sure that we're being sustainable throughout all aspects of the business - we've even got solar panels installed on the office's roof! We also voluntarily donate packaging that we no longer need to our local nursery as the nursery kids really enjoy using our empty ribbon boxes to create their very own sculptures - how fun!

We are now removing 10 bottles from the ocean for every order placed with us

Removing plastic bottles from the ocean

For those reasons, we are working with Plastic Bank to remove 10 bottles from the ocean for every order placed with us. Partnering with this organisation brings us a step closer to reducing the amount of plastic pollution we offset by playing our part in removing plastics polluting the oceans, whilst providing a source of income for the less fortunate who collect plastic bottles from these polluted areas.

Alternative solutions

We’ve recently launched various products in support of our Less-Plastic-ID project including our most recent Eco printer bundle which includes 100 sustainable lanyards made of RPET material created from recycled packaging and plastic bottles. The eco bundle is ideal for events needing a temporary ID badging or visitor pass printing solution. We also have a wide range of sustainable accessories and consumables such as our eco-friendly add-ons which include our renewable cardholders made from polypropene which can be widely recycled and then turned into a new product.

Our Evolis Zenius Eco Bundle printer solution

Other alternatives include the Evolis paper cards which are ideal for event passes, or visitor identification passes. The Evolis paper cards are a reliable alternative to plastic ID cards, preventing you from using plastic ID cards that are bound to be disposed of in a short period of time during an event. These cards have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and are made from cellulose fibers meaning no plastics have been used. Our paper cards are widely recycled and biodegrade in natural environments after several months - now that's what you call sustainable! In addition, all the above can be recycled using our free recycling services!
