The Evolis Zenius ECO Bundle is a monochrome card printing setup built around paper cards instead of PVC, so every badge you print is biodegradable, FSC-certified and compostable. Printer: compact, quiet and ready for on-demand badge runs

The Evolis Zenius is a single-sided card printer designed for on-demand runs and small batches. It prints at 300 dpi with edge-to-edge coverage, so barcodes, text, logos and names come out sharp to the edges of the card. At 46 dB(A) and 3.3kg, it fits on a desk or counter without dominating the space or disturbing the people around it.

The 50-card input hopper handles batch runs, and a manual single-card feed slot at the front lets you print one card at a time when needed. Both the hopper and the output tray face forward, so the printer tucks neatly into a corner if desk space is limited.

Connectivity. The printer connects via USB, so you can run it from a single computer. Drivers are available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Ribbons and automatic configuration. The printer reads the RFID chip in each Evolis ribbon cartridge automatically on loading and sets itself up for that ribbon type. It’s ready to print as soon as the ribbon is in, and the remaining print count is visible at a glance.

Warranty. The printer and printhead are both covered for two years by Evolis.

Paper cards and BlackFlex ribbon: what they are for

The 100 Evolis paper cards (part 20-1300) included in this bundle are made from cellulose fibres without any added plastic. They carry FSC certification, meet the compostability standard EN 14995 (cf EN 13432) and are biodegradable in the natural environment within a few months. They are CR80 size (85.6 × 54mm) and 0.76mm thick, the same dimensions as a standard credit card or PVC ID card.

Paper cards are built for short-term use. Event passes, visitor badges and luggage tags are their natural fit, where the card will be used briefly and then discarded. They are not built for daily, long-term carry, so they are not the right choice for permanent staff ID.

The BlackFlex ribbon is essential. Paper cards must be printed with the Evolis Blackflex Wax Ribbon (RCT019NAA). Its specially formulated ink delivers sharp black text, barcodes and logos on paper and other non-PVC surfaces. It is monochrome only, so the bundle produces black-on-white cards rather than full-colour photo ID. One roll yields up to 1,000 prints.

Replacement rolls are available as the Evolis Blackflex Wax Ribbon. Additional packs of paper cards are available as Evolis Paper Cards, which come in a pack of 100.

CardPresso XS software and lanyards

CardPresso XS (CP1100) runs on Windows and Mac. It connects to Excel, CSV and TXT files, so you can pull names, job titles, badge numbers or barcodes directly from a spreadsheet rather than typing each one manually. It supports 1D barcodes and card templates, meaning each badge follows a consistent layout. The software is upgradeable to higher editions if your needs grow.

Lanyards. The 100 black 10mm breakaway lanyards (328-4211) are made from flat RPET and fitted with a metal lobster clip. The breakaway snaps apart under sudden pressure and clips back together afterwards.
