The Magicard Prima 8 Retransfer ID card printer is a high-end printer designed for producing high-quality, durable ID cards and inherits the most successful features and outstanding print quality from previous generations. It offers 300 dpi output as standard for sharper images and text, printing capabilities to the edge of the card, and robust security features such as UV printing, which uses the specialist YMCK-UV ribbon. With the UV feature, you can print images that are invisible to the naked eye but can be revealed under a UV light source, enhancing card security and preventing cloning.

Suitable for corporate, educational, governmental, membership, and financial environments, this printer is FIPS 201 compliant and listed on the GSA Approved Product List, and supports various encoding options such as magnetic stripe and smart cards (contact / contactless).

Reverse-transfer printing is what makes this possible: images are printed onto a thin film first, then heat-transferred onto the card. This gives a print quality comparable to offset litho, and works well on uneven surfaces like smart cards.

The Prima 8 prints up to 100 full-colour cards per hour, backed by a 100-card input and output hopper for handling volume without constant reloading. It comes with a logical printer lock as standard, a 3-year warranty and lifetime printhead cover, and connects via USB or Ethernet for straightforward integration with existing card design software.

The Magicard Prima 8 Duo adds double-sided printing at up to 600 dpi, useful when a card needs to carry more than a photo and name on the front, such as terms of use, a barcode, or emergency contact details on the back. It still prints up to 100 cards per hour and keeps the same reverse-transfer process, 100-card input and output hopper, printer lock, and 3-year warranty with lifetime printhead cover as the single-sided model, so double-sided printing doesn't come at the cost of speed or reliability.
