Our NXP range covers MIFARE contactless cards, keyfobs and adhesive stickers for building access, cashless payment and membership systems. The card options run across two main families: MIFARE Classic (1K and 4K, in EV1 versions) for straightforward access and time-and-attendance setups and MIFARE DESFire (2K, 4K and 8K, in EV1, EV2 and EV3 versions) where more onboard memory or a newer generation is called for. You will also find Ultralight C and Ultralight EV1 cards, plus a HID iClass and MIFARE combination card for sites running two technologies side by side.
If you are matching existing readers, the deciding factor is usually the exact chip family and memory your system expects, so check that before ordering. NXP MIFARE products are 13.56 MHz contactless credentials, the RFID smart cards, key fobs, wristbands and stickers used for access control, cashless payment, time and attendance, transport ticketing and membership systems. All of them are built on NXP chips and sold in packs of 100 apart from the wristbands. If you already know which chip your readers expect, match it from the list.
The cards cover MIFARE Ultralight EV1 and Ultralight C, MIFARE Classic 1K EV1 (S50) and Classic 4K EV1 (S70). The DESFire lines are DESFire EV1 in 2K, 4K and 8K, DESFire EV2 in 2K, 4K and 8K (MF3D2201, MF3D4201DUD, MF3D8201DUD) and DESFire EV3 in 8K. The MIFARE cards are standard CR80, 85.6 x 54mm, in PVC for direct-to-card and retransfer printers. One Classic 1K EV1 line carries a HiCo magnetic stripe for both technologies on one card. MIFARE Classic 1K is also the chip in the keyfobs, 27mm round stickers and silicone wristbands for wet or high-wear settings.
MIFARE Ultralight EV1 suits single-use or short-term visitor tokens where cost matters. Ultralight C adds Triple-DES authentication. MIFARE Classic 1K and 4K handle the majority of everyday building access work. MIFARE DESFire, with its stronger security, is the choice for payment, transport and higher-security sites. MIFARE Classic and DESFire are not interchangeable, so check which chip your access control platform reads before you order. If you are unsure, send us your reader details or a sample of your current key card and Plastic ID will confirm compatibility before you commit to a full order.
