The Evolis Zenius 2, Evolis's own "little genius of the family," is a compact single-sided card printer built for small to medium-sized businesses that need reliable, high-quality card printing. With clear, professional print quality, it uses dye-sublimation and thermal transfer technology to produce cards in both monochrome and full colour. It also offers digital erasing, wiping data from the printer after each job to protect the security of your cards and the data behind them.

The Zenius 2 offers prints up to 180 full-colour cards an hour, or 700 in monochrome, making it a genuine one-stop solution for quick display updates or last-minute printing. It's designed to work with standard CR80 PVC cards, giving a consistent, straightforward format that covers the majority of ID card types, including loyalty cards, ID badges, membership cards, visitor badges, and even bank or health insurance cards. It's also compatible with composite PVC, PET, and paper cards, making it far more than just an ID card printer.

The Zenius 2 Classic handles card printing and rewritable cards, but it doesn't encode cards for access control. The Zenius 2 Expert adds that capability, with optional magnetic stripe, contact chip, or contactless encoders, so access control cards are only available on the Expert edition, not the Classic.

The Classic comes with standard USB connectivity, while the Expert adds Ethernet, giving it more flexibility for networked office environments.

Which One Do You Need: Classic or Expert?

If you're printing straightforward ID cards, badges, or membership cards, and don't need to encode anything, the Classic covers that at a lower price, connected over USB to a single computer.

Choose the Expert if you need any of the following: encoding for access control cards (magnetic stripe, contact chip, or contactless), Ethernet connectivity to run the printer on a shared network, or UV effect printing using a compatible YMCKOO ribbon for an extra layer of visible security. If none of that applies to you, the Classic does the same core card printing job for less.
