Magicard Pronto ID Card Printer Overview

The Magicard Pronto is a compact, hand-fed printer built for small businesses and beginners printing ID cards in low volumes. Card printing with this machine is straightforward enough to set up and run without any specialist training and the free card design software doesn't require a degree in Photoshop to get started.

How It Prints

The Pronto is a single-sided card printer. It prints a monochrome card in 7 seconds or a full-colour card in 35 seconds. It's direct-to-card print technology allows for edge-to-edge printing on standard PVC CR80 and CR79 cards. It's rewritable too: print the front in full colour, then wipe and reprint the back in monochrome up to 500 times. For visitor passes or temporary badges that change on a daily basis, this is a huge cost saving.

Security as Standard

Holokote®, Magicard's watermarking technology, comes included with four predefined watermark designs, selectable directly from the printer driver, so every card can carry a visual security watermark at no extra cost. Pair it with HoloPatch cards (which include a highly reflective gold seal that's difficult to replicate convincingly) for an additional layer of security.

Software and Compatibility

A free copy of EasyBadge Lite comes included, limited to 100 records and Windows only. It connects over USB and runs on Windows 8 and 10 (32 and 64-bit), Windows Server 2012 and 2016, Mac OS 10.9 and above, and Linux with CUPS support.

Is This the Right ID Card Printer for You?

The Pronto handles standard photo ID, membership, and visitor cards well. As a direct-to-card printer, it's not the right choice for access control cards with an embedded chip, printing over a raised chip can cause blemishes and force a reissue. For that, the Magicard Ultima retransfer printer is the better fit. But for simple ID cards this is an excellent option. It's easy to use, straightforward to maintain and produces high-quality cards that look great for years.
