Most ID cards are the standard CR80 size, the size of a bank card. For events, venues and busy sites a bigger card can do a better job. Large format cards have room for a large photo, a site map, a schedule or a QR code. They can be read at a distance too.

How to print XL and 2XL cards

Large format cards need a large format printer, because standard ID card printers only take CR80 cards. Most organisers use a two-step process. The design, map and branding are pre-printed in advance. The wearer's name and photo are then printed on site at accreditation. Security features such as UV print or holograms can be added to the pre-printed design.
